FAQ
What is a birth chart?
A birth chart is a map of the sky at the moment of your birth — where each of the major planets was sitting, relative to a chosen zodiac and a chosen house system. In Vedic tradition it is called a Kundli or janam-patrika.
Vedic or Western — which one will I get?
Both. We render the Vedic (sidereal) chart with the Lahiri ayanamsa as the default, and the Western (tropical) chart alongside. You can compare the same positions in both frames.
What house system do you use?
Whole Sign by default (the Vedic classical default — each sign = one whole house). Equal House and Sripati are available as opt-ins in the chart settings. For the Western chart we also offer Placidus.
Why does my birth time matter so much?
The ascendant — the sign rising on the eastern horizon — changes roughly once every two hours. A four-minute difference at sunrise can land you in a different sign. Where you can, get your birth time from your birth certificate or mother.
