Manglik / Mangal dosha

Am I Manglik? Checked properly — and the cancellations applied.

Mangal (Manglik) dosha is the placement of Mars in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house — but the classical method checks it from three reference points (Lagna, Moon and Venus), then applies the cancellation rules most apps ignore. We run the full check on your real chart and tell you whether the dosha is genuine, partial, or already cancelled.

From Lagna, Moon and Venus

A real Manglik check looks at Mars from three points, not just the Ascendant. Checking from the Lagna alone is why so many tools flag charts that classical Jyotish would clear. We assess all three.

Cancellation (parihara) rules applied

Mangal dosha cancels in many real cases — Mars in its own or exaltation sign, benefic aspect, both partners carrying the dosha, Mars in specific signs, and age-related mitigation. We apply these classical pariharas instead of leaving you with a raw flag.

Guidance, not fear

When a genuine dosha remains, we explain its actual effect on the 7th house (marriage harmony, timing) and the prescribed upayas — without the fear-selling. Manglik status alone is not a verdict on a marriage.

A worked example

Question

A site told me I’m Manglik. Is it serious?

Reply

You have Mars in the 7th house from the Lagna, which is why the quick tool flagged you. But two classical cancellations apply: Mars is in its own sign (which neutralises much of the dosha), and Jupiter aspects the 7th house. From the Moon, Mars is not in a dosha-causing house at all. Read the classical way, this is a cancelled / nominal Manglik chart, not a serious one. The practical rule the texts give: match against a partner’s chart rather than treating the label as a barrier — and if both carry Mangal, the dosha is mutually cancelled.

FAQ

What is Manglik (Mangal dosha)?

Mangal dosha — also called Manglik dosha or Kuja dosha — is the placement of Mars (Mangal) in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house of the chart. Because Mars is a fiery, assertive planet, classical texts hold that its placement in these houses can stress marriage harmony and timing, which is why it is checked before fixing a match.

How do I know if I am Manglik?

Check the placement of Mars from three reference points — the Lagna (Ascendant), the Moon and Venus — not the Lagna alone. If Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th from any of these, the dosha is indicated; then the cancellation rules decide whether it is genuine. Enter your exact date, time and place of birth and the tool runs all three checks for you.

Does being Manglik mean I cannot marry?

No. A large share of flagged charts have the dosha cancelled by classical rules (parihara) — Mars in its own or exalted sign, a benefic aspect on Mars or the 7th, both partners being Manglik (mutual cancellation), or age-related mitigation. Even a genuine dosha is managed with classically prescribed remedies, not a barrier to marriage. Treat the label as one factor, read in full.

Why do different websites give me different Manglik results?

Because most quick tools check Mars from the Lagna only and skip the cancellation rules, so they over-flag. The classical method checks from Lagna, Moon and Venus and applies the pariharas — which is why a careful reading often clears a chart a simple tool flagged. We follow the classical method and show you which rule applied.

How does Manglik affect kundli matching?

Manglik status is checked alongside the 36-guna Ashtakoot score during kundli matching — it is a separate factor, not part of the guna count. If both partners are Manglik the dosha is generally treated as mutually cancelled. Run the dedicated kundli matching report to see both the guna score and the Mangal-dosha assessment together.
