A planet strong in the D1 but weak in the D9 loses promise over time; one weak in D1 but strong in D9 (vargottama) gains it. Experienced astrologers never judge a chart from the D1 (Rashi) alone — the D9 confirms or quietly cancels what the birth chart suggests.
