The calls we could not answer
Every one of us has had that call. A cousin who cannot sleep the night before an interview. A mother asking whether the wedding date is right. A friend going through something they cannot quite name, who finally asks — should I be worried?
We are the ones in the family who are “good with computers”. And we had nothing to offer back that felt worth giving.
So they went looking. We watched what they found.
Some walked into a small room off a temple lane and came out quiet. A dosha they had never heard of. A gemstone to be bought by Tuesday. A number that kept climbing the more worried they looked.
Others downloaded an app and got a sentence written for nobody in particular. “Today is a good day for new beginnings.” The same line, we later realised, that eleven other rashis were reading that same morning.
One frightened them. The other told them nothing. Neither had actually read the chart.
There was AI everywhere. None of it was doing this work.
We saw developers using technology to generate quick horoscopes and surface-level predictions that lacked any grounding in the shastras. Large language models were reciting generic spiritual advice, completely disconnected from the rigorous mathematical precision of ancient Vedic astronomy. No one was teaching the intelligence to genuinely comprehend the scriptures.
So we built what we wished they had
Not a chatbot with a horoscope bolted on. We taught Panditji to work the way the jyotishis in the room work — shastra first, every time.
