FAQ
Is the gemstone recommendation free?
Yes. The full gem guide — nine Navagraha gems and nine upratna, each with finger, metal, day, weight, mantra, activation ritual and precautions — your life stone and luck stone, and the three gems for your sign are all free. You need a MyPanditji account (sign in with WhatsApp or email), and the life and luck stones need a Kundli generated with your exact birth time and place, which is also free. Asking Panditji about your gems uses the same free daily chat messages as the rest of Panditji chat; Pro and Max seekers are not held to that daily cap.
Which gemstone should I wear by date of birth?
Not by your sun sign. In Jyotish the lifetime gem (Jeevan Ratna) is the gem of your Lagna lord — the planet that rules your ascendant — and the luck gem (Bhagya Ratna) is the gem of the lord of the 9th house counted from that Lagna. The ascendant depends on the exact time and place of birth, which is why the guide needs those and not just the date. Once your Kundli is generated, both stones appear at the top of the page with how to wear each.
What does the guide tell me about each gem?
The finger and hand, the metal for the ring, the weekday to first wear it, the minimum weight, the mantra with its count (108 times, on the planet's day at sunrise), who should wear it and who should not, the activation ritual, the precautions, and the classical sources — Garuda Purana's ratna chapters, Brihat Samhita chapter 80 (Ratnapariksha) and the Mani Mala.
What is an upratna?
A semi-precious substitute for a primary gem, for when the primary is out of reach — Garnet or Sunstone for Ruby, Moonstone for Pearl, Carnelian for Red Coral, Peridot for Emerald, Citrine for Yellow Sapphire, Amethyst for Blue Sapphire, Honey Quartz for Hessonite, Tiger's Eye for Cat's Eye. The guide rates their effect at roughly 50–70% of the primary gem, and each has its own finger, metal, day and mantra in the guide.
Can a gemstone be wrong for me?
Yes, and the guide says so. A gem strengthens its planet, so a stone for a planet that is a functional malefic in your chart is one to avoid. Ask Panditji and the reading names the gems to avoid and why, alongside the one it recommends. Blue Sapphire, Hessonite and Cat's Eye are the three the guide asks you to confirm with a qualified astrologer before wearing, and Blue Sapphire is to be tested for three days before it is set permanently. Personalised recommendations are for adults — for a family member under 18 the library stays open but no stone is prescribed.
What does Panditji check before recommending a stone?
Your Vedic chart and the dasha you are running now. The advisor is grounded in the ratna chapters of Garuda Purana and Agni Purana and the planet-to-gem rules of Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Saravali and Phaladeepika. The reading gives the primary gem with its planet, finger, metal, weight, day and mantra, an upratna substitute, the gems to avoid, why the chart points there, and a caution — a gem supports, it does not guarantee.
